William H. Spencer, born January 6, 1947 to the late William & Goldie Spencer in New Bern, NC departed this life on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Hospice Home in Burlington, NC.

William spent his early childhood and attended elementary school in New Bern, NC.  Upon moving to Greensboro, NC "Bill" as he was affectionally called, finished his education at James B. Dudley, Sr. High School.  He later met and married Ms. Joann Roberson and to this union three children were born.

Bill was employed by McMichael Mills in Burlington, NC.  He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully and with loyal service on the male chorus, usher board, transportation committee, trustee board, and always helped clean the church when something was going on.  He was a caretaker for a senior member of the community.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers, Larry and David; and sisters, Evelyn and Carol.

Those left to cherish his memories:  son, William, Jr. (Donna); David (Stancie); daughter, Joan Watlington (Everette); sister, Constance Spencer; brother, Alexander Spencer; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A video tribute will be played in Hargett Funeral Service 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro Friday from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  A memorial service will be for family only on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in The Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm.
