IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Franklin
Goins
July 31, 1944 – December 8, 2019
Mr. William Franklin ("Frankie") Goins was born on July 31, 1944 in Pinehurst, North Carolina and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Beacon Place Hospice & Palliative Care, Greensboro, NC. He was the oldest son of the late William Oscar and Marjorie Goins.
Frankie started serving God at an early age at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Bessemer City, NC in various church activities. He received his early education in the Bessemer City Public School System, attending Stewart Elementary School, Bessemer City, NC and graduating from Lincoln High School, Bessemer City, NC in 1962. He furthered his education at North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC from 1962-1965. Beginning in 1965 he actively served in the U.S. Army until 1967, then returned to Bessemer City, NC and was employed at the Box Factory until returning to North Carolina A&T State University to complete his degree and to begin his family. From 1972 – 1992, Frankie faithfully served the U.S. Army Reserve, Greensboro, NC, proudly serving in Operation Desert Storm (1991), and retired at the rank as a First Sergeant.
From January 7, 1973 – June 3, 2004, Frankie was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Consumer Safety Inspector in the Food Safety and Inspection Service division. During his tenure within the USDA he faithfully worked in various NC duty stations including, but not limited to, North Wilkesboro, Robersonville, Morganton and Reidsville. After he retired in 2004, this opened up time for him to pursue ALL of his interests – fishing, a charter member of the High Rock Hunting Club, hunting, gardening, landscaping, attending Dudley High School football/basketball games and whatever he set his mind to do. He did them all with true dedication, fervor and perfection, even to include frying the best fried fish!!
While in Greensboro, Frankie joined Trinity AME Zion Church in 1982 under the leadership of the late Rev. Vaughn Eason and has been a faithful member until his death. While at Trinity AME Zion Church, he has actively served on the Trustee Board, Steward Board, Men's Fellowship Forum, Male Chorus, James Varick Men's Ministry and wherever he was needed. He enjoyed attending the 8am Worship Service where he served as an Usher/Greeter and assisted in providing landscaping services to the Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda G. Goins of the home; two sons, Adrian Bryant Goins (Tania) of Boynton Beach, FL and Franklin Christopher Goins of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Robin Nicole Goins of Concord, NC; two grandsons, Ashton Brean Goins and Adriel Bayon Goins, both of Columbus, OH. He said he did not have any granddaughters so he adopted one that he dearly loved, Gia Celine Tucker of Greenville, NC; one brother, Clifton O. Goins, Sr. (Carolyn) of Kings Mountain, NC and four sisters, Brinderlyn Brooks (David) of Oklahoma City, OK, Carolyn Elliott (Bobby) of Kings Mountain, NC; Gennie G.
