William Henry Foust, III is the last surviving child of William and Lottie Chrismon Foust. William (Bill) graduated from Sedalia High School in Sedalia, North Carolina, class of 1949. He attended the Agricultural and Technical College in Greensboro, North Carolina (A&T State University). He matriculated at the City College of New York, New York during the late 1950's.
Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 19, 1952. Bill served his basic training in San Antonio, Texas. From basic training he attended jet fighter mechanic school in Amarillo, Texas, then to March Air Force Base in Riverside, California for two years. Two years later, he was discharged from Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine.
Upon discharge in 1956, Bill spent several years in New York, New York before permanently relocating to Trenton, New Jersey. Shortly after establishing residency, he started a successful painting and masonry company, Bilot Mason Contractors, Inc. He lived in Trenton for 50 years.
Gardening, fishing, and hunting were his favorite pastimes. These interests were acquired as a Boy Scout earning him the Star Badge. He also enjoyed spending time at his condo in Myrtle Beach, SC. Visiting family, attending celebrations, funerals, and reunions were priorities.
Bill maintained a lifelong membership at Wadsworth Congregational Church in Wadsworth, NC. Bill's father, William, had always wanted to build a new church to replace the old one. He was chosen by the Board of Trustee to erect ths church, but died in a car accident prior to fulfilling this mission. To honor his father's intentions and memory, Bill built a more modern, Wadsworth Congregational Church in 1977.
Bill joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ and has been a member since 1998.
Those left to celebrate his life and cherish wonderful memories are daughter, Rhoda Harvey; granddaughters, Shereatha Hawkins and Tiffany Andrews of Burlington, NC; two great and three great great grandchildren; sister, Debra Pinnix of Greensboro, NC; special friend and significant other, Carrie Yvonne Vereen of Trenton, NJ; nieces, Michelle Foust and daughter, Shamelle of Graham, NC, Sharon Holt Minz and Ashley Holt-Ransom both of Greensboro, NC; nephew, John Holt, Jr. of Trenton, NJ; aunt, Thelma Hatchett of Greensboro, NC; cousins, Linda Wright of Burlington, NC; Lonnie Haith of Raleigh, NC, Melvin Dick (Mattie) of Whitsett, NC, Betty Small of Denver, CO; Charles Jones (Glenda) of Tucson, AZ, Alma Jean Swan, Shirley Lee, and Rose Love all of Greensboro, NC; other grand nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Holt Foust; brother, Thomas DePriest Foust; and grandson, Edward Hawkins.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Wadsworth Congregational Church, 1301 Rock Creek Dairy Rd, Whitsett, NC. Visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm.
