Walter Lavarris McAdoo was born March 24, 1945 to the late Albert L. McAdoo, Sr. and Cecil Holt McAdoo in Guilford County, North Carolina. He departed this life suddenly on February 7, 2022 at his retirement home due to natural causes.
Walter, lovingly known as "Bone" to family and close friends was educated in the Greensboro City Public School system. He attended James B. Dudley Senior High School in 1964, where he played trombone in the school band.
He worked in the trucking and manufacturing for a number of years. He retired as a custodian with the Guilford County School System. Walter was a proud member of Bass Chapel United Methodist Church for all of his life. He sang in the Bass Chapel Senior choir and the Nehemiah Men Male Chorus. He also held positions on numerous committees and boards while a member.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Phyllis; two sisters, Mozelle Reid and Phyllis Taylor; four brothers, Frederick Holt, James Harold McAdoo, Charles Edward McAdoo, and Albert Lorenzo McAdoo Jr.
He leaves to celebrate his life and memory two sons, Brian D. McAdoo and Bronson D. McAdoo, Sr. (Sigmaro); one daughter Christina McCray, one grandson, Bronson D. McAdoo Jr., two granddaughters, Kristen A. McCray and Vinecia S. McCray; one sister, Carolyn Scales; three brothers, George E. McAdoo, Everett N. McAdoo and Clarence M. McAdoo (Charlotte), a special someone near and dear to his heart and the mother of his two boys, Andrecia J. McAdoo and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and extended family.
Public viewing of Mr. McAdoo is 12 noon - 5:00 pm Saturday the 12th in Hargett Funeral Service 905 East Market Street Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family is 2:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:30 pm Sunday in Bass Chapel United Methodist Church 5075 Bass Chapel Road Greensboro, NC.
