GREENSBORO - Mr. Walter Lee Jones passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital.

He was a native of Alamance County, born to the late Leverta Jones and reared by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Hattie Jones. In 2001 he retired after 30 years as supervisor in the Dyeing and Finishing Department of Tower Mills, Burlington, NC.

Walter was a gifted musician and singer who shared his gifts with the Gospel Revelators, Men of Gospel, and within his church, Greater Christian Fellowship of Greensboro. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner and member of several lodges.

Walter is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; daughters, Anita Jones Clay, Mebane, NC, Leverta Jones Carethers (William) and Rolanda L. Stanfield (Jonathan), Burlington, NC; sons, Joseph Renard Wall, Eric Nicketheol Jones (Lisa), Greensboro, Keith B. Jones, Elon, NC, Steven C. Jones (Shenette), Knightdale, NC; sisters, Clarice J. Hornbuckle, Carolyn J. Spivey (William), Huntersville, NC, Claudette J. Dunlap, Janice J. Clement, Charlotte, NC and Jeanette V. Jones, Greensboro; brothers, Freddy Jones (Barbara), Franky Jones (Rita), Mebane, NC; grandchildren, Shenika E. Ward (Joshua), J. Matthew Clay, Aaron B. Clay, Micah K. Jones, Brittany S. Jones, Tyler X.C. Jones, James E. Jones, Tyler Stanfield, Joseph L. Miller and a host of other family members and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents and brother, Richard (Dicky).

Family Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel and the Homegoing Service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Shiloh Holiness COGIC, 200 East Vandalia Road.

The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Eric, 3801 Pleasant Garden Road.
