The LEGACY Of Virginia Lee Florence Anderson, who was born August 18, 1939 to the late Ferdinand F. and Notre Enoch Florence. She transitioned her legacy of life to her Heavenly home December 19, 2021.
Virginia was born the 7 th child out of a family of 8 children. She grew up and married Samuel Lee Anderson, a few months before her 17 th birthday. She became a mother to 7 boys and emphasized her life legacy around the number 7, which many believe; is the number of completion. She once shared with her family that the number 7 was her blessings, quoting "This is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in my eyes." She was also a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a stepmother, a loving relative, and caring friend to many.
She was educated in the Guilford County School system, and was a former employee of Brown Investment Brokers, Dunning Industries, and managed and kept records for her families' carpet business; she served as a travel companion to Mrs. Barbara McMillian, a nurse and the wife of her husband's business partner. She was a life member of St. Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as a Missionary and a member of the Senior Choir.
She was a genuine person with a big heart. She loved to cook and mastered it well. She and her husband open their home to any and everyone who needed food or a place to rest. Neighbors, friends, and anyone who visited always felt welcome.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by three sons, Frederick Douglas, Ellis Raynard and Irving Maurice Anderson; three daughters-in-law; Cynthia, Elvira, and Edwaina Anderson; granddaughter, Temeka Allen; grandson, Elio Jr. (Lil E.), one sister, Rose Lane; two brothers, James and Marvin Florence; and travel companion/ sister/friend, Barbara McMillian.
Her legacy will continue with husband, Samuel L. Anderson of the home; sons, Samuel, Jr., Darryl, Elio, and Barry (Yolinda) all of Greensboro, NC; 14 Grandchildren, 28 Great grandchildren, 4 step children, 4 sisters, Doris Jessup (Laddie), Alberta Hughes, Ella Carter and Catherine Jennings; one sister-law, Bertice Florence; The McMillian Children, John, Carolyn and Debbie; and many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm in Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in St. Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 633 NC Highway 150 W, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
