September 1, 1948 – January 4, 2022
Mr. Tyrone McTier was born September 1, 1948 and went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2022. He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Frank and Esther Womble McTier. He graduated from James B. Dudley Senior High School in 1966.
Tyrone was an exemplary employee with International Textile Group, formerly Cone Mills, for forty years. He drove long distance routes carrying textile products along the eastern seaboard from Carolina to New York without fail. In his leisure time, he was an avid outdoor man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and grilling for family and friends.
Tyrone was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Esther McTier; brother, Bill Womble; and sister, Peggie J. Worthey.
Tyrone will be greatly missed and leaves precious memories to his lifelong companion, Carol Chapman of Greensboro, N.C.; brother-in-law, Richard Worthey, Sr. of Dayton, Ohio; nephews, Richard Worthey, Jr. of Greensboro, N.C. and Michael (Anna) Womble of Wheatley Heights, N.Y.; and other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel. Visitation with the family begins at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
