Mr. Tony Russell Thompson, son of the late Walter and Emma Jean Perkins was born on August 19,1958 in Sanford N.C. He was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from Moses Cone hospital in Greensboro N.C.

Tony received his education in the Guilford County public schools, and graduated from Grimsley High School. He also attended Guilford Technical Community College, and served proudly in the United States Army as an armored vehicle specialist until his discharge.

Tony's greatest gift was his love for his family. Tony was fondly known by his friends as, "TT". He will be remembered by all for his soft-spoken quiet demeanor. He was very humble, patient, kind and always willing to give a helping hand. Tony's last request during
his illness was "Tell Everyone I Love Them".

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Melvina Thompson; aunt, Maxine Petty; and uncle, Linwood Thompson.

On departing this life he leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Jennifer Thompson, two sons Antwan Maynard and Tony Gaither. One grandson Jaquan Maynard, two uncles, Albert Thompson (Barbara) and Melvin Thompson; four aunts, Shirley Hargraves, Delores Booker, and Billie Kimber all of Greensboro, NC and Armendia Thorpe (Winfred) of Charlotte, NC; great-aunt, Mattie R. Akins of Greensboro, NC; god-sister, Nikki Barkley and god-brother, Chan Barkley, both of Greensboro, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing of Mr. Thompson will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel of Hargett Funeral Service 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro.  A homegoing celebration will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel.  Visitation with the family begins at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 1:30 pm.  Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery on February 8, 2022 at 10:00 am.
