IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sunday Olawale
Igbokoyi
November 25, 1964 – September 24, 2021
Sunday Olawale "Oshioyemi" Igbokoyi was born on November 25, 1964 in Ibadan, Nigeria. He was the oldest of seven children born to late Mr. Samuel Igbokoyi and Ms. Olufunmilayo Igbokoyi (Nee Ogundipe).
Sunday Igbokoyi attended Methodist Primary School in Agbeni, Ibadan in Nigeria and did his secondary school at Ibadan Boys High School. He studied Yoruba/History at Ila-Orangun College of Education, Osun State. Sunday taught the Yoruba language as a teacher. He was a complete gentleman (a.k.a. "Omoluabi") in every way. He deeply embraced the Yoruba culture and tradition. He worked with different companies in Nigeria before moving to Switzerland for a few years from where he relocated to the United States of America in 2001.
Sunday lived in Greensboro, North Carolina with his late sister, Gbemisola John before moving to his own domicile in the latter part of 2002. Sunday's first job in the United State of America (U.S.A.) was at a gas station. After an incident, whereby he was held at gunpoint during his shift at the gas station, his sister advised him to leave the job, which he did. He then went to obtain his Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) license and began working.
In 2004, he moved temporarily to Lithonia, Georgia to attend nursing school in Lawrenceville, Georgia. During the Annual Anniversary of Cherubim & Seraphim Prayer Group Church on Sunday, November 21, 2004, he was introduced to Olufunke Ajayi by the pastor's wife, Special Mother in Israel/Prophetess, Tolu Laguda. He graduated and received his licensure in 2006. Sunday and Olufunke got married in 2007. They had their first child, Oluwaseyi in 2008 and their second child, Hannah in 2016.
The last company he worked with was Bayada Home Health Care in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He has been a member of Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C.) Bethel Fellowship since 2001. One of Sunday's happiest moments was when he obtained his American visa on September 11, 2001 in Lagos, Nigeria, moments before the World Trade Center was attacked. Sunday was kind to everybody. He was a hardworking man who cared for his family. He enjoyed and loved his wife and children very much. Sunday was very creative and talented.
Sunday was a Christian man, whom through faith persevered through many adversities. Sunday overcame a few health conditions in the last several years of his life. He fought a good fight of faith till the very end. Sunday was eventually called to glory on September 24, 2021.
Sunday, my heart is broken with a deep vacuum only God can seal. You fought hard for your life in the last days in the hospital to stay on earth. However, I know God knows best and wants you to come and rest at His eternal home (Heaven). It would be altogether impossible for me to give adequate expression of my appreciation of Mr. Sunday Olawale Igbokoyi as a husband, father, and man. In all these relations, he stands out against the horizon, a man difficult to match. The most casual glance at his life reveals his vast and many-sided serviceableness. Your children and I will miss you very much.
Rest in Perfect Peace! Till we meet again, my husband.
