IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Johnson
Wright
May 31, 1942 – February 2, 2019
May 31, 1942 February 2, 2019
From Her Sons:
Our Mom, Shirley J. Wright, was born on May 31, 1942 to Hazel Fletcher. However, she always said her life began in 1956 when she met our dad, Noscoe. Exactly one month after graduating from Dudley High School in 1960, she and our dad were married. She always joked that she went from homework to housework.
She was preceded in death by her father, Yardrick Williams, Jr.; her grandson, Darien; brother, Yardrick, III; sister, Ann; and a beloved aunt, Odessa Prey.
Her memory will be forever cherished by us, her sons - Darrick of Seattle, WA, Damon of Greensboro, NC, and David (Tina) of Greensboro, NC; a precious granddaughter, Trinity; a handsome grandson, "Achey;" siblings, Michael Williams, Clayton Williams, Tyrone Williams, Rhonda Woods, and Lynne Wade (all of Greensboro); a dear brother-in-law, Charles Wright, beautiful nieces and nephews and countless faithful friends, many from New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member for over 60 years.
To My Sons:
Darrick, Damon, and David, please don't grieve for me. I had a beautiful life starting with your father, Noscoe. We wanted four sons, but God gave us three. Later, our grandson Darien, became our fourth son. All of you were wanted; you were not a mistake or an accident. Married 50 years, 7 months, 2 weeks, and 4 days - - my soulmate made my life worth living. You, my sons, made my life worth living. Please don't mourn my death; celebrate my life because your dad and I are finally back together again. ~ ~ Love, Mom
To Those I Love
When I am gone, just release me - - - let me go so I can move into my afterglow
You mustn't tie me down with your tears; let's be happy that we had so many years
I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love you've each shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone
So, grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust
It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart
And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and a
"WELCOME HOME"
~ Shirley
