IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Carter
Graham
March 21, 1948 – November 29, 2018
Shirley was born March 21, 1948, in Greensboro, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on November 29, 2018, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Shirley attended Browns Summit High School and graduated salutatorian in 1966. She was a faithful member of Bass Chapel United Methodist Church until her health started to fail.
Shirley was good to all and would give you her last without hesitation. She loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She took pride in babysitting for family and friends and watching out for others, who looked up to her as a mother too.
She loved to dance and talk; she didn't meet any strangers. Her favorite color was red. She enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. She would reminisce for hours telling old tales about the "good old days." She will be greatly missed by all.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving parents, Roy Carter (2004) and Margaret Bass Carter (2001).
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughters, Laselle Graham and Jamie Graham; beloved son, Jeremy Graham (Tanja); seven wonderful grandchildren, Seijah Graham, Bryson Graham, Jaliah Singleton, Marquez Graham, Jerrin Graham, Jamario Graham, and Jaynelle Graham, all of Greensboro, NC; Godsister, Sonya Richey (John); Godbrother, Roy Mark, Jr. (Nancy); Goddaughters, Paris Ann Scales (Herb) and Katina Maynard (Louis); Godson: Ronald Carter; and avery good friend, James Brittain (aka Charlie Brown); loving sisters, Janice Carter and Ophelia Motley (Terry); niece, Lisa Carter-Hart (Frankie); nephew, Terros Motley (Jennifer); two great-nephews, Jaylon Hart and Carter Motley; and great-niece, Tessa Motley, all of Greensboro, NC; three aunts, Lacey Lewis, Lila Carter, and Myrtle Addley (Tyrone); a very special aunt, Margie N. Carter who was also a good friend; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Bass Chapel UMC, 5075 Bass Chapel Rd, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Bass Chapel UMC Cemetery.Visits: 0
