Sister Shirley Jean Chambers Coleman, daughter of the late William Milton Chambers and Mary Essie Crawley Chambers, was born February 25, 1940 in Caswell County. On Tuesday evening, April 21, 2015, Shirley Jean Chambers Coleman departed her life after battling a major illness. She was the fifth born of nine children.
Shirley was reared both in Caswell and Person Counties. She was an employee of J.P. Stevens for 14 years in
Greensboro, NC. She was married to Clyde Magellan Coleman, Sr. and to this union five children were born.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Clyde Magellan Coleman, Sr.; son, Clyde Coleman, Jr.; sisters, Odella Chambers and Barbara Diane Henson; brothers, Floyd and Reginald Waymund Chambers.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Veranda Coleman, Shelia Canada, and Angela Coleman; one son, Darryl Coleman; sister, Minnie Chambers; brothers, William Newell Chambers, Ponce DeLeon Chambers and Coolidge Chambers; grandsons, Michael Canada, Jr. (Valencia), Deuntae Barlow, Darryl Leon Coleman Sloan, and Darius Barlow (Rochelle); great grandchildren, Andre' Canada, Michael Canada, III, Christian Jackson, Alexandria Jackson, Chyna Hariri, Darius Barlow, Jr., and Harmony Barlow; uncle, Deacon Curtis Crawley (Cora); aunts, Cozella Stewart, Glossie Malline Leake (Prince Frederick), Montenia DeSales (Lance), Foresteen McGhee, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
