In Loving Memory of Sheldon Savon Becton
April 5, 1971 – April 18, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheldon Savon Becton, a devoted husband, loving father, and treasured member of the Greensboro community. Sheldon passed away suddenly on April 18, 2025.

From a young age, Sheldon found purpose in the quiet dignity of cemetery work. What began as a part-time job during his teenage years grew into a lifelong calling. In 1999, he joined the City of Greensboro Cemeteries Department, where he faithfully served until his passing. His dedication, compassion, and work ethic left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Sheldon will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Latasha Hicks Becton; his son, Charles Edward Becton; his mother, Lola B. Dawson; his father, Edward Bruce Becton (Mertie); his sister, Iris Becton Carroll (William); his brother, Eric Becton (Kimberly); and his mother-in-law, Yvonne Thomas (Sean). He is also survived by his best friend, Shawn Ward (Vennetta), and a host of extended family, colleagues, and friends who will continue to honor his memory.

Sheldon lived a life grounded in love, humility, and service. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services

Visitation with the Family will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship (4344 Blackberry Road, Greensboro, NC 27406) followed immediately by the Homegoing Service at 12:30 PM.

His wife and son will also celebrate his life with family and friends at a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Craft Recreation Center (3911 Yanceyville St, Greensboro, NC 27405)
