Rosa was born on March 20, 1932 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Charles and Elsie Crawford. On May 28, 2015, Rosa Lee completed her assignment on Earth.
Rosa was educated in the Greensboro Public School System and she graduated from James B. Dudley High School, Class of 1952.
For over 25 years, Rosa was employed as a Mental Health Technician at the Guilford County Mental Health Department. In addition, her career included employment as a Nursing Assistant at Evergreen Nursing Home and L. Richardson Hospital. She also assisted with patient transfer to Camp Butner and Dorthea Dix Hospitals.
Rosa will be remembered for her empathy, sound counsel, and passionate hardworking spirit.
She is preceeded in death by her siblings, Bill Crawford, Albert Crawford, Charles Crawford, Marion Wyche, and Bertina Glasgow; grandson, James Hooker, Jr.; and former husband, Willie Washington.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughters, Wanda Stewart (Richard) of Oakland, CA and Pamela Harris of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Summer Hooker of Sedalia, NC, Antonio Washington of Greensboro, NC, and Rayna Stewart of Oakland, CA; nieces, JoAnn Williams of Brooklyn, NY, Gloria Griffin of Greensboro, NC, Jean Badgett of Greensboro, NC, and Brenda Raley (Dalton)of Greensboro, NC; nephew, Freddie Crawford of Reidsville, NC; cousin, Herbert "Pee Wee" Haywood, a special friend, Carol Chapman; and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm, at St. James Baptist Church, 536 West Florida Street, Greensboro. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
