Roosevelt Senel Armstrong was born to the late Roosevelt and Louise Armstrong on February 26, 1950 in Laurinburg, NC. Roosevelt departed this life on October 31, 2019.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Laurinburg.

Roosevelt was educated in the Scotland County school system. After graduating, he attended Elizabeth City State University and earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts Education. He taught students in the Halifax County school system in Virginia. He later relocated to North Carolina and worked as a carpenter in construction. Roosevelt also found great joy in restoring and refinishing antique furniture and in creating wood crafts.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Shaunte Senel Hayes (Mariatu Rahim) of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Tralen Isaiah Schoolfield of Creston, NC and Aziza Nicole Hayes of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, James E. Armstrong (Ophelia) of Greensboro and Obay Armstrong (Carmen) of Orlando, FL; four sisters, Estella Armstrong of High Point, NC, Audrey Armstrong of Roanoke, VA, Ariel Armstrong of Greensboro, NC, and Karen Tharrington (Gerald) of Raleigh, NC; four nephews, Brandon Armstrong of Durham, NC, Brian Armstrong of Greensboro, NC, Tyler Tharrington of Raleigh, NC, and Bradley Tharrington of Prescott, AZ; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Market Street, Greensboro, NC.  Visitation with the family will begin at 12 noon followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N O'Henry Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
