November 22, 1951 – April 15, 2024
Larry Keith Cornwell was born on November 22, 1951, to the late Sorves and Beulah Tyler Cornwell and transitioned this life on April 15, 2024. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore and Charles Cornwell.
Larry attended and graduated from Cleveland County Schools in Shelby, NC. After graduation, he was employed by Western Electric. He then furthered his employment at Bell South now known as AT&T where he retired after 43 years of service.
He loved to play basketball and shoot pool. His favorite pastime was working in his yard. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers and true-blue Duke Basketball fan.
Larry was an ordained minister and a devoted teacher of God's word. He joined Kimes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in 2023 and truly loved his Church Family.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Wanda Faye Farrington Cornwell; a loving and devoted daughter, LaToya Michelle Cornwell Purefoy (Devarra) of Mebane, NC; a loving son, Ronald Keith Palmer (Carmen) of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Reverend Earl Cornwell (Joanne) of Lithonia, GA and Carl Cornwell of Yanceyville, NC; three sisters, Reverend Shirley Harper of Powder Springs, GA, Bettye Graham (Charles), and Brendolyn Houston of Charlotte, NC; two brothers-in-law, Artis and Michael Farrington; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Farrington and Johnsie Cornwell both of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Isaac Purefoy, Eden Purefoy, Jaylon Herbin, Cierra Palmer, Kerrington Palmer, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, April 20 at Kimes Chapel, 2027 NC Hwy 119, Mebane, NC; visitation with the family begins at 12:00 pm followed by the service at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
