Rena Mae Austin Mebane was born April 10, 1941 in Greensboro, NC to the late Darrell "Dock" Eugene Austin and Julia Mae Thomas Austin.

Rena's greatest joys were feeding all the stray cats in the neighborhood and caring for her pet turtle of 40 plus years. The angels rejoiced on November 9, 2019 at 3:50 pm when she was chosen to enter into eternal rest.

In addition to her parents, Rena is predeceased by her husband, John "JV" Mebane.

Rena was a loving sister. She leaves to mourn her sister, Rosa Lee Austin Jordan of Greensboro, NC; brother, Bishop Willard E. Austin (Evangelist Thalia) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

We Will Always Remember You

When God made you, He did so with a purpose and a plan.

He saw all your days before you lived one of them,

And placed over you a covering of His protective love.

He has allowed nothing to into your life,

That has not first been screened through that love.

His hand has remained upon you this very day.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Old Landmark Independent Church, 821 West Terrell Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 1:00pm followed by the service at 1:30pm.
