Obituary

Rena Fortune McAdoo entered into rest on January 28, 2023 at her daughter's home in Silver Spring, Maryland.  She was born on March 2, 1938 in Baden, North Carolina to the late Dorscina (Vinson) Miles and Boyd Fortune.

Rena was educated in the Greensboro Public School System and attended North Carolina A&T State University.  She became a member of Trinity AME Zion Church early in life.  Rena had a passion for cooking and loved to bake cakes for family and friends. She also loved to travel with trips to Rome, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Hawaii, France, South Africa, Germany, Poland, Ephesus, and the Czech Republic. During her travels she was baptized in the Jordan River.  Rena also participated in the local bowling league for many years.  She loved to play Bingo and volunteered to work elections at the polls for many years.

Rena married the late Douglas McAdoo on September 1, 1962.  She is survived by four children: Treva McAdoo of Charlotte, NC; Douglas McAdoo II of Greensboro, NC; Jessica McAdoo of Silver Spring, MD, and Darryl McAdoo (Tara) of Evans, GA; one brother, Frank Fortune of Greensboro NC; five grandchildren: Kyle Davis and Geoffrey McAdoo of Greensboro, NC; Darius McAdoo and Darion McAdoo or Atlanta GA, and Makayla McAdoo of Auburn, Alabama.  Rena also has one great grandchild, Geoffrey McAdoo Jr of Greensboro, NC, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 in Trinity AME Zion Church, 631 E. Florida St., Greensboro at 12:00 pm. Livestream of the service will be available on Trinity AME Zion Church Facebook page.
