Obituary

Raymond Lewis McDaniel, 70, of Greensboro, NC and Durham, NC died on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Raymond was born to the late James Roscoe Knight and the late Larsalle Knight-Wiley in Greensboro, NC on February 25, 1950.  He was preceded in death by two brothers: Sherman Thompson and William S. Davis; one sister: Mariena K. Bartley-Martin; and his Godmother, Maggie Lewis.

As a young child, Raymond was reared in the Warnersville neighborhood in Greensboro, NC.  He spent his school-aged years in Brooklyn, NY.  After high school, he returned to Greensboro, where he worked various jobs as an excellent cook primarily in the hospitality industry.  At the time that Raymond left us to be with the Lord, he resided at Brian Center in Durham, NC.

A friend to many --- Raymond had a heart for caring for others.  He could always be depended on for a smile, words of encouragement, and a listening ear.  Words that best describe Raymond include: caring, loving, thoughtful, funny, sweet, nice, gentle, thankful, helpful and wonderful.

Raymond leaves to cherish his precious memories: sister: Brenda F. McBride (Larry); a close cousin that he considered to be a sister: Sarah E. Howell; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
