Phyllis Ann Glover Powell was born on April 28, 1950 to the late Cecil and Jennie Herbin Glover.

She attended and graduated from the Guilford County School System.  Phyllis was employed with the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years before retiring.  Because of her love of helping people, after retirement Phyllis worked part time with the Guilford County School System.

Phyllis joined New Goshen United Methodist Church at an early age and remained faithful until her death.  She served on various committees some of which were the Finance, Kitchen/Hospitality, Communion Steward, Evangelism, and the Usher Board.

She enjoyed baking cakes and making her famous "Potato Salad."

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Isabelle Glover.

Phyllis leaves to mourn her loss 3 sons whom she loved immensely, Robert Powell, Jr., Anthony Jermaine Powell, and Jeffrey Powell; 4 grandchildren whom she adored, Scott McKinnon (Alana), Bennett Powell, Savannah Powell, and Ashley Powell; 1 great grandson, Alex McKinnon; 1 brother, Kendall Glover; 2 sisters, Iris Pettiford and Doris Davis (Dwight); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Public viewing of Ms. Powell is 12 noon- 5 pm Wednesday September 30th in Hargett Funeral Service, Inc. 905 East Market Street  Greensboro, NC.   A private family funeral is 12 noon Thursday October 01, 2020 at New Goshen United Methodist Church 3300 Randleman Road  Greensboro, NC. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
