Ollie Little Franklin, age 73, passed away on October 19, 2021 due to multiple health complications.
Ollie Mae was born on November 19, 1947 to parents Fets Little and Olivette Lewis Little Baldwin in Santee, South Carolina. The family later moved to Asheboro, NC. Ollie Mae attended Central High School and graduated from Asheboro High School in Asheboro, NC in 1966. During her time at Asheboro High School, she played varsity basketball and her team made it to the semi-finals, which explains her latter love for the Duke Blue Devils.
At age 14, she met her high school sweetheart Wilbur (Tony) Artemus Franklin who would become her soulmate of 50+ years of marriage. Born out of this union were three children: Kevin and Lisa Franklin both of Greensboro, NC, and Greg (Linda) Franklin of Pittsburgh, PA.
Ollie Mae, begin a career as a seamstress and worked many years for various clothing giants to include: Blue Bell and Polo by Ralph Lauren. Ollie Mae also made dresses and did alterations for people in her neighborhood for some of their most important life events.
Ollie Mae, in addition to sewing she had a passion for cooking and could be found in the kitchen either preparing meals for the family throughout the week or preparing for the annual 4 th of July picnics that took place for more than 40+years. For Homecomings she would also make certain that she had her famous Chitterlings which had become a neighborhood staple and earned her the title of "Queen of the Southside".
She was petite in statue but had a robust personality for life which was always focused on her family and friends. She would often be referred to as the neighborhood MOM and community friend as she was always available to lend a helping hand.
Ollie Mae is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers: Roy (Ferris) of Asheboro, NC, Archie Little of NY, Dwight (Sung) Little of Seattle WA, and Tony (Sandra) Little of Greensboro. Wayne Baldwin and Bonnie Clegg of Asheboro, NC. She also leaves to mourn: her oldest living relative Alice Young (Aunt) of Miami, FL,. Her beloved husband Wilbur A. Franklin, children: Kevin Franklin, Greensboro, NC, Melissa Franklin of Greensboro, NC and Greg (Linda) Franklin of Pittsburgh, PA. Grandchildren: Marcus Woods of Greensboro, NC , Nyree and Yahari Franklin of Greensboro, NC and Galaiya Franklin of Greensboro, NC, two great grandchildren Levi and Landon Woods, of Greensboro, NC and one godson: James Franklin along with a host of nephews, nieces, great nephew-nieces, and friends.

Public viewing of Mrs. Franklin is 12 noon to 5:00 pm Sunday the 24th in Hargett Funeral Service 905 East Market Street Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family is 12 noon to 1:00 pm Monday October 25, 2021 in The Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel of Hargett Funeral Service; the service (with only 75 guests) begins 1:00 pm followed by burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Asheboro, NC. Livestreaming of the service is available. *Masks are required for all guests.
