Obituary

"Sleep on beloved, sleep, and take thy rest. We loved thee well, but Jesus loves thee best."

After all the care and comfort human hands could give, God, in His infinite mercy, ended the pain and suffering of our loved one. On July 13, 2015 at 5:20 pm, God called Norman Eugene Alston and he quietly slipped away. Norman, also called "Dump," was born on January 11, 1942 in Greensboro, NC to the late Bishop Noman Alston and Bessie Rankin Alston.

Dump attended Rena Bullock School. He worked for Greensboro City Sanitation and later for Apac Paving Company. He will be remembered for his many expressions like "say what" and "at a time like this."
Dump was preceded in death by his younger brother, Rodney and younger sister, Patricia.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Robin and Hope Alston of Greensboro; Jaximica Alston of California; sons, Chad Alston of Whitsett; Joey and Dominique Alston of Greensboro; sister, Brenda (James) Love of Greensboro; brother, James (Cynthia) Alston of Winston-Salem; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; God-sisters, Gloria (Tom) Dickie and Reverend Shirley Donnell; aunts, Evelyn Teague and Lillian Alston both of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at New Goshen United Methodist Church, 3300 Randleman Rd, Greensboro, NC at 1:00 pm.
