Obituary

Mrs. Neta W. Lynn, 68, departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at her home in Greensboro, NC. She was born in Concord, NC, on November 25, 1955, and was raised by Mary Louise White and the late Samuel "Pop" Grier. Neta was the oldest of six children: Danny Foard (Patricia) of Concord, NC; Gregory Foard (Angela) of Concord, NC; Gerdale Slade of Woodbridge, VA; Willie Grier (Daphne) of Charlotte, NC; and the late Tonja Okoye of Concord, NC.

Neta attended Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC, and earned her nursing diploma from Rowan Cabarrus Community College, practicing as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 44 years. She mostly worked in long-term care, fondly referring to her residents as "my little old people" and treating them like family.

In 1977, Neta married the love of her life, Charles J. Lynn, and they remained married until his death in September 1999. Neta resided with her family in China Grove, NC, where she raised her two older daughters, Necosha Lynn (Charlotte) and Charlena Fox (Billy Jr.) of Winston Salem NC. She later moved to Greensboro, NC, where she raised her son Elijah "Isaiah" Horne.

Neta was the grandmother of Kalib Banks (Tiffany) and Joshua Banks (Eboni) of Cary, NC, Akira Rice, Shamya Fox, Payton Bibbs, and Billy "Tre" Fox III of Rural Hall, NC, and the great-grandmother of Noah, Aidan, Joshua Jr., Jaxon, Grayson, and Jream Banks of Cary, NC.

Neta's love for helping and caring for others led her to establish a ministry for the homeless called In My Father's House Ministries, which served the local homeless community. She was a minister who loved spreading God's word and serving others and was a member of Love and Faith Christian Fellowship in Greensboro. Even in retirement, she continued to work part-time at Whitestone Retirement Home in Greensboro, NC.

Neta also had a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, ministry members, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, July 22 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 23 at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship Church, 4344 Blackberry Road, Greensboro; visitation with the family begins at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Salisbury, NC on Wednesday, July 24 at 10:00 am.
