Obituary

NANNIE DOGGETT-BRIDGES was born August 9, 1920 to parents James and Annie Bell Browning. She departed this mortal life on February 18, 2019 at Wellington Oaks, Greensboro NC.

She worked and retired from the school system in Chicago. Sister Bridges was a member of the Immaculate Chapter Number 537 Order of the Eastern Star PHA. She was a faithful member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cobie Browning, Sr.;two sisters, Arline Yancey and Mary Kirkpatrick; husbands, Norman Doggett, Sr. and Fred Bridges; and three children, Norman Doggett, Jr., Mary Lane, and Sherrill Doggett.

Those left to cherish her memory included one son-in-law, Lewis Lane of Greensboro; one daughter-in-law, Renee Doggett of California; grandchildren, Lewis Lane, Jr., Clarence "Ted" Lane of Greensboro, Myra Lane-Willis and Khalif "Third" Mohammad of California; seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 901 E. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro.  Visitation with the family begins at 12:00 pm followed by the service at 1:00 pm.  Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
