The voice of God gently called his Servant Monroe Alston into eternal life. He passed into everlasting life on Monday September 20,2021
Monroe was preceded in death by his father Monroe Sr. and Johnise Alston, son Danny Alston and brothers Ralph and Michel Alston. As we celebrate the home going of Monroe Alston's life, we remember the legacy that he leaves behind. He was born November 28, 1936 to Monroe Sr. and Johnise Alston in Guilford County. He was educated in the Guilford County School System.
Monroe was a great lover of sports, especially the Pittsburg Steelers and the Atlanta Braves. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His legacy and life shall be long remembered. Monroe was a faith member of Reid Memorial CME Church where he served on the Trustee Board and sang in the Male Chorus he also was the father of Soul House Christian Fellowship.
Monroe leaves behind a wife of sixty one years Rudene Alston son Roderick Alston of the home daughter Tina Hairston (Stevie) of Greensboro grandchildren Brittany Womble, Shamar Wright and Aleshia Alston all of Greensboro great grandchildren J'Serie and Jaryah Womble of the home. Two brothers, Anthony Alston, Robert Alston (Marie) Ronald Alston (Elaine) and one sister Patricia Posey all of Greensboro, A host of nieces, cousins, close family friends a special friend of many years Debra Isaac
Public viewing of Mr. Alston is 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Sunday the 26th in Hargett Funeral Service 905 East Market Street Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family is 10:30 am Monday September 27, 2021 in Saint Paul Baptist Church 1309 Larkin Street Greensboro, NC The funeral service begins 11:00 am followed by burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery 3901 Forest Lawn Drive Greensboro, NC * Only a small number of guests will be allowed in Saint Paul Baptist Church.
