Obituary

Mrs. Millicent "Nokie" Lee took her wings to her flight home peacefully on Tuesday August 6, 2024, with family and friends by her side. She was a native of Brevard, North Carolina and was the daughter of Joseph Russell and Jeanette Norman Green. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina A&T State University.

Millicent served the community through many organizations formed to meet the needs of people. She was an officer and charter member of the Justice Coalition USA and the Greensboro Business League, a founding member of the Guilford County Community Political Action Committee and was a lifetime member of the NAACP where she served as an officer at the state and local levels.

Millicent was a proud member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church of Greensboro where she served as Executive Assistant to Sr. Pastor Rev. Dr. Cardes Brown Jr. for 25 years. Lovingly known as "Nokie", she had a deep love for family and friends and was the proud fur mom of her black pug, Spade.

There will be no public viewing until Sunday. A homegoing celebration will be Sunday, August 11,2024, visitation 1:30, service 2:00 pm at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC. Interment is Monday the 12th in Westminster Gardens. Livestreaming of the service is available.
