Mrs. Mildred Hoskins Womack, Mu, was born on January 22, 1931, in Guilford County, NC to the late Zack Hoskins and Naomi Milton Hoskins. She was called back home by the Creator on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She was educated in the Guildford County school system and she became a member of the Garden of Prayer Apostolic Church under the late Bishop Willie Womack.
She was married to the late James Thomas Womack in December 1945 until his death on October 16, 1987. She was employed for a short time at Cone Mills in Greensboro, NC and later returned home to raise her children and was instrumental in helping to rear her 17 grandchildren. Mu enjoyed making ceramics, growing flowers, spending time with family and friends, cooking her famous meal of pinto beans, sweet cornbread, fat-back meat and her famous upside-down Pineapple cake.
Mu was very particular about her appearance and loved to look good whether staying in or going out. Her hair was always done and she loved a big hat, nice clothes and fine shoes. She was also a connoisseur of the full line of Avon products and often purchased gifts for others.
She was preceded in her death by husband, James Thomas Womack; infant son, James Rochester Womack; parents, Zack Hoskins and Naomi Milton Hoskins; sister, Mattie Mae Hoskins Watkins and brother, Edward N. Hoskins.
Cherishing her memories are her beloved children: Linda Womack Jones (Jerry) of Brown Summit; Carolyn Womack Donnell (James) of Greensboro; Charlotte Womack Golden of Liberty; Sharon Womack Jones of Greensboro; Hilda Womack Paylor (William) of Mebane; Zannie Womack Totton (Robert Sr.) of Sedalia; Sherman A. Womack of Brown Summit; David A. Womack of Greensboro; Alice D. Womack of Greensboro; God-Children: Hazel McNeil, Marsha McCain, Lisa Agbo, Rosa Mason, Carla Orton, Monica Watkins and Wynetta Watkins.
She also leaves behind her brothers, Troy Hoskins (Lucy) and Frank Hoskins (Helen) of Greensboro, NC and sister-in-law, Bessie Womack. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at The Garden of Prayer Apostolic Church, 2401 16th Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at White Oak Grove Cemetery.
