Obituary

Michael Allen Taylor, Sr was born on May 29, 1979, to Dr. Gene A. Taylor, I and Mary LeGrande of Greensboro, NC. God chose to call him home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Mike was educated in the Greensboro School System and worked at City Transfer & Storage until his death. He was a member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, where his father serves as the pastor.

Mike was affectionately known as "Mikey" and "Ham" by his family.  He had a playful persona, a loud and infectious laugh,
and loved his family dearly.  He truly believed the motto, "Family Over Everything".  He enjoyed video games, cooking, and spending quality time with the family; whether grilling out, early morning conversations and trash talking sessions with his brother, or "sneaking away" with his mom and sister for Saturday shopping trips and lunch. He loved watching and discussing Marvel movies, collecting comic books, and watching his favorite football team play, the Green Bay Packers.  He was always quick to lend a helping hand, especially to the desolate and the elderly.  But he wanted to see a man, "stand on his own two feet".

Mike leaves to mourn his absence three children, Michaela, his sweet "Jellybean", Michael Jr, his young gentle giant, affectionately known as "Professor", and Lanaya, his baby "Na-Na"; mother, District Mother Mary LeGrande; father, Dr. Gene A. Taylor, I; sister, Sheila Taylor Bostick (Anthony) of Greensboro; brother, Gene A. Taylor, II (LaToya) of Reidsville; two nieces, Antonia Bostick and Anaysia Taylor; one nephew, Gene A. Taylor, III also known as Tre'; and a host of family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Now that you are gone, we will cry until we can't cry anymore, but your memories will keep our hearts warm, we would like to tell you now all the things we didn't get to say like "Thank You, for contributing to our lives" and we appreciate you for the love you gave us. The lessons and little talks from you aided us in becoming the young women and young man we are today. Dad, we will make you even prouder! You will be missed and forever loved. ~"Your Children"

A homegoing celebration will be held on Monday, January 8 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel; visitation with the family begins at 11:00 am followed by the service at 11:30 am.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
