GREENSBORO — Mrs. Mary Rebecca Bedenbaugh Womack died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 9:45 p.m. After a brief illness, in the presence of her grandson Michael, she journeyed from labor to reward.

The funeral will be 12 noon, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral at 11 a.m. until 12noon.

She was born in Little Mountain, SC. Her parents, Robert Oneal Bedenbaugh and Mary Wise Bedenbaugh, predeceased her.

She moved to Greensboro and met her husband, Daniel Womack, Sr. From this union, nine children were born. Her husband and two of their children, Richard Lee and Gloria Yvonne Womack Jones, predeceased her.

She was a member of Bethel AME Church for many years, where she served on Stewardess Board #2, the Women's Missionary Society and Class #15.

She is survived by seven children, Daniel, Jr. (Betty), Jessie Womack Cardwell (son-in-law, Leo, Sr., deceased), James (Patricia), Raymond (Sheila), Earnest (Gwendolyn), Carolyn Womack Ragin (Charles), and Deborah, who was her caretaker. A son-in-law, Bernard Jones, also survives her. Along with her children, she is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Womack is also survived by one brother, Virgle Bedenbaugh, of Columbia, SC; and one sister, Alice B. Stepthens, of Little Mountain, SC. Ten other siblings also predeceased her.
