Mary Ellen Goldston was born on November 10th, 1928 to the late Frank and Eliza Russom in Oak Ridge, NC. She went home to be with the Lord May 22, 2017.
Her early education was at Oak Ridge Elementary Negro School and Laughlin High School in Summerfield, NC. She attended Guilford Co. Technical Institute and received her LPN degree.
Mary worked at Moses Cone as a licensed practical nurse in pediatrics for 33 years showing love to all children that came her way.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elmer Eugene Goldston. And now they are "back together again!"
From her early youth she was a member of St. James AME Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir President, Missionary, Financial Sect., and Steward and Trustee. Whenever you saw her you always received a personal invitation to attend St. James along with her glowing genuine smile.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Goldston; one sister, Dilsie Russom Wadelington; and one brother, Curtis Eli Russom.
Mary Ellen leaves to cherish her memory her loving aunt, Helen Bernice Hooker; sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia C. Russom, Ms. Lennie Searcy, Mrs. Jenny Lowe, Mrs. Lois Griffin; extended family, Mr. David Whitaker, Mr. Richard Whitaker, Mr. Spencer and Rebecca Ayer Harrell, Mr. Bob Siler of Washington, DC; 4 nephews, 2 nieces, and a host of great grandnephews and great grandnieces along with many other friends and relatives.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. James AME Church, Oak Ridge.
