Obituary

Mrs. Margie Neal Carter was born February 26, 1931 to the late Mary Grant in Guilford County, North Carolina.  She departed this life on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Camden Place in Guilford County, NC after several months of declining health.

She was educated in the Guilford County Public School System, and she attended Brown Summit School.  She was a lifelong member of the Bass Chapel Community of Guilford County.  She married Mr. Lewis Carter and to this union two children were born, Reginald Carter and Margie Marie Carter.  Mrs. Carter enjoyed her role as a homemaker for her family and mother to her two devoted children.

Very early in life, Mrs. Carter joined Bass Chapel Methodist Church.  She was always a proud member of Bass Chapel, and as a young mother, she worked with Sunday School.  Later in life, she faithfully served on the usher board for as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her mother; her beloved husband, Lewis N. Carter; and her only sister, Mrs. Ruby Speilman.

She leaves to celebrate her life and to mourn her loss her son, Reginald Carter of the home; daughter, Margie Marie Carter also of the home; grandson, James Levette, Jr. (Michele) of Greensboro, NC; goddaughters, Mrs. Lisa Carter Hart (Frankie), Ms. LaSelle Graham, and Ms. Jamie Graham all Of Greensboro, NC; godson, Jeremy Graham (Tanja) of Greensboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lila Carter of Greensboro, NC, Mrs. lacey Lewis of Petersburg, VA, Mrs. Myrtle McAddley of New York, NY, and Jeremy Graham of Greensboro, NC; very special "daughters" Debra C. Alston and Brenda W. Liles both of Greensboro, NC; special cousins, Mrs. Marie Mark, Mrs. Willie Mae Jones, Mrs. Patricia VanEaton, and Mr. Fred D. Bass all of Greensboro, NC; special friend, Ms. Mildred Cherry of Greensboro, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family, and friends.

A public viewing will be Saturday, February 3 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, February 4 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel; visitation with the family begins at 2:00 pm followed by the service at 2:30 pm.  Interment will follow on Monday, February 5 in Lakeview Memorial Park.
