Lois W. Dunn, third of seven children and a twin, departed life on February 11, 2017 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born to the late Melvin and Dora Bagby Whitley on January 13, 1924 in Johnston County, NC.

Lois Whitley married William Dunn on November 10, 1945. To this union were born two children, daughter, Joyce Dunn and son, George Dunn.

Lois was a faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC until the family relocated to work with UNCG College. Once she moved to Greensboro, she joined Reid Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she was an active member until her health began to decline.

She leaves to cherish her memories daughter, Joyce Dunn Gaines of Greensboro, NC; son, George Dunn (Miriam) of Oviedo, FL; sister, Janie Washington Taylor of Richmond, VA; several grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Reid Memorial CME Church, 1010 Bennett Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 12:00 pm followed by the service at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Garden.
