Leon Issac Roberts, Jr., age 78, passed away peacefully at Moses Cone Heartland Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, September 13, 2015. He was a devoted father, spouse, entrepreneur, and friend. Leon was born June 17, 1937 to the late Roxie Welch Roberts and Leon Issac Roberts, Sr. of Edenton, North Carolina.
Leon graduated from Edenton High School in Edenton, North Carolina and North Carolina A&T State University, in Greensboro, North Carolina. There he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Leon has worn many hats to include; one of the first black firemen for the Greensboro City Fire Department, salesman for Bell South Telephone Company, Entrepreneur, Owner of his own businesses in Norfolk, Virginia and Greensboro, North Carolina, Contractor, Consultant and Land Developer of several businesses and homes throughout the city of Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by sister, Doris Ingram (Alfred); brothers, William E. "Smiley" Roberts (Evelyn), and Donald Lee Robert(Ernestine).
Survivors include his loving spouse, Doris Alston Roberts; daughter, Brenda Roberts Anderson (James); son, Leon Issac Roberts, III (LaShawna); sister, Ella Spates-Fauntleroy; uncle, Harvey Roberts; grandsons, James Anderson Jr, Roy Anderson (Crystal), Joshua Anderson; nieces, Sharon Seaman, Kristy S. Bell, Lisa Fritts, Roxie Sneeon, Valerie Talbert, Tonya Roberts; nephews, Jeffery Roberts, W. Kendal Roberts, Todd Roberts, Donaldson Roberts, Cab Spates, Alfred Ingram, Jr.; two great granddaughters, Saniya and Sianne Anderson, a devoted sister-in law; Ernestine Roberts and host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Trinity AME Zion Church, 631 E. Florida Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 12:30 pm followed by the service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
