Obituary

Johnnie Mae Johnson, 87, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at home in Raleigh, NC. Born on February 18, 1938, in Greensboro, NC, Johnnie was the cherished daughter of the late Abbie Nell Johnson, and the first grandchild of her beloved Grandmother affectionately known as "Momma Anna" (Deceased). Her early years were filled with the warmth of close family ties that shaped her lifelong devotion to those she loved.

She was a proud graduate of James B. Dudley High School, class of 1956, and later attended the Cortez Peters School of Business in Washington, DC. Returning to Greensboro, she raised her family with grace and strength. She worked many years in the textile industry before her retirement. A faithful member of Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ in Greensboro, Johnnie served actively in several ministries including the choir. Her unwavering faith was evident in the way she lived—always generous, humble, and steadfast until her illness.

As the matriarch of her family, Johnnie opened her heart and home to many of her nieces and nephews. Her nurturing spirit and faith left a lasting impression on the children she helped raise, instilling in them the values of compassion, and trust in God's provision. She gave selflessly, never seeking recognition, confident that the Lord would provide all her needs. Johnnie lived a life marked by service, humility, and deep love. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the blessing of knowing her. We honor her life and cherish her memory.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her son Rickey Johnson and her sister Dorisine Bullard.

Johnnie leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her son, Jeffrey Johnson, his wife Kelly, and her grandsons Vaughn, Leonard, and Cameron. She held a special place in her heart for the nieces and nephews she helped raise. Gregory Johnson, Reginald Johnson, Raynard Bullard(deceased), Angela Bullard, Eric Bullard, Brandi Bullard and Amari Gardner. In addition to her immediate family, a host of cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends will continue to honor her life and carry forward the warmth, wisdom, and spirit she shared.

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:8-10 "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each one should use whatever gift has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms"
