Obituary
GREENSBORO - John (Dennie) Witherspoon Jr., passed away on Friday, January 14 2011, at his home in Greensboro. He was the son of the late John W. Witherspoon Sr. and the late
Mamie Mitchell Witherspoon, of Greensboro. John made his career, working with concrete. He was employed with Bobby's Concrete, until his retirement. John was born on May 1, 1928, in Greensboro.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Family hour is at 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., at Godly Love Baptist Church, with Pastor William Craig, officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memorial Park Cemetery. He was preceded in death, by his wife, Catherine W. Witherspoon, his parents, three sisters, Alfreda Witherspoon, Ernestine Maxsfield, of Greensboro, Bettye Marshall, of Atlanta, GA, and a special friend, Catherine Headen.
He is survived by three sisters, Gloria C. (Elder Avon) Bailey, Catherine Stevenson, and Joyce (Charles) McCray., all of Greensboro. One brother, Robert Lee Witherspoon Sr. of Greensboro. A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. The family wishes to thank, Dr. Dodds, Dr. Rubin, and staff of Wesley Long Cancer Center, and Hospice for their care and service for John.
