Obituary
GREENSBORO - Mr. John Wesley Wright, Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, immediately following the family hour at 11:30 AM and masonic Rites at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
John was one of 11 children born to the late Edith Arrilee Williams Wright and George Wright on April 6, 1922 in Waynesboro, GA. He served in World War II in the 869th Aviation Engineering Battalion, graduated in 1952 from James B. Dudley High School, and retired from DeSoto Chemicals.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rozenia Elizabeth Donnell Wright; 3 sons, Frederick (FiFi) Wright, Charlotte, NC, John (Sondra) Wright, Jr, Greensboro, NC, and Marcus (Vanessa) Wright, Sr., Greensboro, NC; 4 grandchildren, Morgan (Hodges) Pone, Marcus Wright, Jr., Darrin Wright, and John Wright, III; 3 sisters, Margaret Abrams, Waynesboro, GA, Magnolia Virginia Bynum, Greensboro, NC and Rosa (Wyatt) Jones, Kernersville, NC; 2 brothers, Porter (Georgia) Wright and Robert Wright, Greensboro, NC, and a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives.
