Jewel Fluterann Jones (Lumpkin), born November 9, 1948, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Emma Mildred and Paul Lumpkin, lived a life truly rich in rhythm, movement, and love, remaining an avid dancer until the very end. A cherished educator and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she spent decades inspiring students as a Dance Teacher for the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Jewel's great love was her husband, Laurence "Larry" Jones (who preceded her in death), with whom she shared a 32-year joyful marriage. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2021, Jewel's warmth made her instantly adored by all in her new community, where she treasured her new friends and her dear friend, Mrs. Shirley.

Jewel's legacy lives on through her loving daughter, Joi Lynn Jones-Rutherford (Andre), and her adored granddaughter, Aria Harmony Quinn. Jewel will also be deeply missed by her exceptional caregiver, Dana Cullins, and her devoted crew. We remember Jewel's generous spirit and her dedication to finding the beauty in motion. Her memory will forever live on in every graceful movement and every life she encouraged to find its own rhythm.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Carolina Estates, 4434 Old Battleground Avenue, Greensboro; visitation with the family begins at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.
