On Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 3:50 am in Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC, the Angels came and took a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, relative, and friend. He was the son of James Thomas Morrison and Jessie Downs Morrison. He was born on August 12, 1924 in Moore County, NC. He was the 21st child of 21 children.

Jesse married Emily Lee Smith on May 28, 1955. He fathered nine children and has two step-children. Two children preceded him in death: Jesse R. Morrison and Gwendolyn M. Morrison.

He retired from Tru-Casting Co. in 1988 and retired from his part-time job, the Greensboro Super Flea at the age of 90. The family also has loving memories of his employment at Starmount Fashions.
At an early age he joined St. Johns Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC, and then he relocated to 1st Baptist Church in Burlington. Later joining Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church of Greensboro in 1965 where he attended until death and was a very active member. During his attendance, he served on the vocal choir. The Church was always his favorite place.

He leaves to cherish his memory: spouse, Emily S. Morrison; children, Dr. Larry Jr. Smith (Gwen), Mary E. Winstead (Charlie/deceased), Robert L. Morrison (Althene), Ronald Morrison, Dennis J. Morrison (Willa), Hazeline Morrison, Leagrand Morrison, Dora M. Collins, and Malinda A. Williams (Clinton); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 3701 Heath Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
