Obituary
Janie was born on October 20, 1934 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Tom and Nina Peay. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She received her education in the Fairfield County School System.
At an early age, Janie joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where she served as the Pastor's Aide and was on the Spiritual Choir.
She is preceeded in death by her son, Johnny Young; sisters, Maggie Hall and Daisy Peay; and brother, Johnny Peay.
She leaves to fondly cherish her beautiful memories: son, James T. Young, Jr. (Connie); sister, Nina Anderson; grandchildren, James Young, III, Thomas E. Young, Laretta H. Young, and Nicole Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 2:00 pm followed by the service at 2:30 pm. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
