On Thursday, March 30, 2017, our beloved, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend peacefully took flight from this life to go home with God.
James William McNeill (Big Mac) was born November 11, 1954, to the late Wilbert Richardson and Nellie R. McNeil Smith.
James was educated in the Guilford County/Greensboro City School System, where he graduated from Page High School. He also attended Livingstone College, UNC-CH and NC A&TSU, and was a member of the USMC. He was an avid football lover and enjoyed playing the sport. Jimmy was the "big cousin", who loved live, food and working outside. He had a "servant heart". He loved helping people any way he could. He never met a stranger, and helped to make a better life for far more people than we can imagine. He had a strong love for the elderly and for the youth! He loved his church family, his friends at dialysis and enjoyed being a care-giver for some prominent people in the Community. His unselfish ways of giving will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was the proud father of two beautiful daughters from his first Union with Evelyn McNeill. Faith and Joy became the center of his world. The two of them brought out the best in him. They were the sheer joy of his life!
James leaves to cherish the memories of his life his wife Jacqueline Farrar McNeill, of the home; daughters Faith McNeill, of Silver Spring, MD and Joy McNeill of Greensboro; step daughter, Maeva Stover of Greensboro; step mother, Marietta Richardson, of Browns Summit, NC; six sisters, Sherri Penix (Michael) of Steadman, NC; Cynthia Smith, Penny Smith, and Kimberly Smith, all of Greensboro, NC; Beretta Nunnally and Babby Morehead, both of Browns Summit, NC; one brother, Robert Smith of Salisbury, NC; one uncle, Jackie Wall,(Carol), of Buffalo, NY; beloved cousin, Mattie Poteat of Greensboro, NC, nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
