Cheek
February 15, 1937 – December 18, 2021
James C. Cheek, 84, was born to the late William and Marie Cheek in Randolph County, NC. James, affectionately known as "Jake," attended Greensboro Public Schools. He worked many years and retired from the City of Greensboro as a Supervisor in the Transportation Department.
His loving spirit and witty character allowed him to touch many hearts and lives in a very special way. Jake loved to go fishing and was a die heart Redskins fan. He was lovingly known also as "Papa" and affectionately loved his children, grand, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Ida L. Isley-Cheek; two sisters, Lois and Mary; four brothers, William, Thomas, Eugene, and Clarence; two children, Beverly and Theresa; and one grandchild, Sherman.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Lamont (Cynthia), Franklin, and Anthony; one daughter, Tina (Zeno); two nieces; one nephew; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing of Mr. Cheek is 12 noon - 5:00 pm Monday the 27th in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family is 12 noon Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in The Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel. The funeral begins 12:30 followed by burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, Greensboro, NC.
