Mr. Howard Westmoreland, Jr. (Milwaukee), 88 years of age, was born in Iredell County, NC on June 29, 1932 to the late Howard T. Westmoreland and Gertrude Sloan Westmoreland.  After a brief illness, on January 6, 2021 he was called to Heaven.

Milwaukee attended Iredell County Schools and North Carolina A&T State University, studying Agriculture.  After 40 plus years of service, he retired from Cone Mills.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and wore that honor with great pride.

Howard was joined in matrimony to the late Alzetta Westmoreland for over 50 years.

His hobbies included serving the Lord, loving and protecting his family, planting vegetable gardens and sharing them with the community, and coaching little league baseball for many years.  All the kids in the neighborhood respected him.

Bro. Westmoreland was a dedicated and faithful member of Sharpe Road Church of Christ, formerly South English St. Church of Christ for well over 40 years.  He loved his church family and loved talking about the Bible.  He always said, "My calling is to be an encouragement for the Lord."  He truly lived up to those expectations he thought the Lord would be pleased with.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky r. Westmoreland; four sisters; and five brothers.

He is survived by sons, Bernard Westmoreland (Daisy) and Garry Westmoreland (Tyna); daughter, Mozella Jones (Charles); eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; seven great, great grandchildren; sister, Frances Brewster; sister-in-law, Lennie Heath Westmoreland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A livestream service will be Tuesday, January 19 beginning at 11:00 am.  The password is westmoreland011921
