IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Clay
Thompson, Jr.
July 19, 1939 – October 8, 2020
Henry Clay Thompson, Jr. was born July 19, 1939 to the late Mr. Henry and Mrs. Nannie Thompson. At an early age he relocated to New York City where he would spend the next 40 years as a painter at New York Presbyterian Hospital. After retiring from the hospital, Henry moved back to Greensboro, NC where he would spend his days enjoying retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, boxing, kids, and helping people. He was sure to make you laugh while in his presence. He lived his final days peacefully in his residence, where he departed this life from us on October 8, 2020.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Edger Thompson and son, Henry (Hank) Clay Thompson, Jr.
Henry is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerrie" Garris-Thompson of New York; four sons, Andre Thompson, Sr. of Philadelphia, Michael Thompson of New Jersey, Andre Clay Thompson and Jeffrey Thompson of Danville, VA; one daughter, Stephanie, Thompson of New York; one brother, George Haith of Oceanside, CA; three sisters, Nina Thompson-Brewton of New York, Annie Lee Woods (Leroy) and Viola Thompson-Davis of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; a special friend, Dorothy Nobles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Henry will be greatly missed and the memories of him and the love he shared with all of us will forever be sketched in our hearts. Let us rejoice and be glad that a life well lived now enjoys his blessing of life everlasting.
