Helen Legrand Bartley was born April 2, 1939 to the late Helen Bruton and Sam Legrand.  She passed away peacefully at her home on July 19, 2022.

Even though Helen was born in Gilmer, North Carolina, she was raised in Mt. Gilead and Mt. Zion of Greensboro, NC.

She worked as caregiver for many years.  She had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. She was a member of Center Christian Church and was devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Adrian Briggs and siblings, Ruby Golden, Crawford Legrand, Edna Winston, Samuel Legrand, Jr., Henry Legrand, Betty Legrand, Leroy Legrand, Mozelle Legrand, Novela Curtis, and Rabbit Legrand.

She leaves to cherish precious memories to six children, Anthony Briggs, Audrey Hudgens, Angela Williamson, Alan Briggs (Pam), Ahondreyea Briggs, and Colon Briggs; sister, Joanne Hayes; sixteen grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro at 3:00 pm.
