Obituary

Master Halo Elijah McCoy, beloved infant son of Ebony Bouey and the late Lewis Carlos McCoy, was called into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 15, 2026. Though his time on earth was brief, the footprint he left on the hearts of his family is eternal.

Halo was greeted in Heaven by his father, Lewis Carlos McCoy, and his adoring grandmothers, Gloria Kay McCoy and Cheryl Renee Bouey.

Left to cherish his precious memory are his devoted mother, Ebony Bouey of Greensboro, NC; his big brother, Justice Bernard ; his twin brother, Hendrix; his uncle Corey Scott Cortland, NY; his cousins Shawn Guy and Shawn Donnell Greensboro, NC and his great aunt Natalie Sims Saint Albans, NY, his God-Mother, Harmony Fisher, Cary NC, his grandfather, Gregory (Greg) Cunningham of High Point, NC; and his great-grandmothers, Bertha Sims St. Albans NY and Dorothy Horton Guy, Greensboro NC

Though Halo was the smaller of the twins, he entered the world a few minutes before his brother, weighing a fierce 1 pound and 4.8 ounces.

Born a fighter, he defied the odds day by day, growing stronger through every challenge. To watch him open his bright eyes and see his head fill with beautiful hair were moments of pure, divine grace.

Halo’s strength and resilience quickly captured the hearts of everyone who cared for him, proving that even the smallest souls can hold the greatest amount of love.

The family welcomes friends for a public viewing to celebrate Halo’s life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hargett Funeral Service, 905 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC.
