Obituary

Gertrude "Gertie" Savannah Lindsay Goodall transitioned from this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. She was born April 20, 1931 in Greensboro, NC to the late Nebraska Buster and Atalanta Ada Morehead Lindsay.

She graduated from Dudley High School, class of 1949 and attended Hampton University where she met and later married the late Luther Jacob Goodall, known in the Professional Wrestling world as Luther Lindsay. To this union was born a daughter Luanna. They made Sedalia, NC their home, owned and operated the Midway Diner. They traveled and lived in many places around the world such as Hawaii, Calgary Alberta, Canada, Arizona and Portland, Oregon just to name a few. She attended Persimmon Grove AME Church serving on the Missionary Society. In 2008, Gertie joined McLeansville First Baptist Church, serving on the Missionary Circle, Evangelism Ministry, Women's Choir and Head Greeter.

She is survived by her daughter, Luanna "Lu" Goodall-Rorie (Leon); granddaughter, Lindsay Mills; grandson, Jacob Rorie; three great grandchildren, Hailey, Joel and Aaliyah all of Greensboro, NC; uncle, Joseph Morehead of Oak Ridge, NC; sister-in-law, Ruby Ballard (Richard) of Suffolk, VA; brother-in-law, Caleb Forbes (Rozell) of Ahoskie, NC and other relatives and friends.

Funeral is Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at McLeansville First Baptist Church, 5920 J.L. Martin Drive, McLeansville.  Visitation 1:30 pm and services at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
