Mrs. Gertrude Jones Estes, daughter of the late James and Addie Crutchfield Jones, was born on December 10, 1923 in the Pomona community in Greensboro, NC. She departed this life on August 25, 2016.

Mrs. Estes graduated from James B. Dudley High School and shortly thereafter became an independent owner and operator of her own hair salon for many years before going to work for and retiring from Cone Mills Corporation.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served the church and community as a member of the Legion of Mary, whose members visit the sick and shut-ins in their homes and at hospitals. In addition, she also served as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Bereavement Committee for many years.

Mrs. Estes was a great daughter to her parents, a great sister to her brothers and sisters, a great and dedicated wife to her husband, a great mother to her kids, and a great friend to all that she met. She was always willing to help someone and greeted everyone with that beautiful God-given smile that she possessed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Estes, Sr.; 5 sisters, and 5 brothers.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Robyn; sons, Willie C. Estes, Jr. (Donna), Ronald, Steven, Michael, and Gregory; and 1 grandchild, William, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 31 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 812 Duke St. at 11:00 am. Family visitation will be 10:30 am until 11:00 am before the service. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
