Gertrude Helen Guy Avery, went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elvira Guy.

Gertrude joined Providence Baptist Church at the early age of 12.  She was a member of many organizations and joined in many activities of the church.  She enjoyed cooking, decorating her home, as well as entertaining family and friends.  She was such a joy to be around and was loved by everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Fred Avery, Jr. and son, Fred Avery, III.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Helen Avery Russell and Katherine Avery Maynard (Dee); grandsons, Fred Avery, IV (Erika) and Christopher F. Russell; as well as a host of family and friends.
