George James Reid, age 89, passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on January 10, 2018. He was one of 14 children born to Otis and Martha Reid. Those left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Edith Reid Patterson and Margaret Reid Lassiter; one brother, Horace Reid; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He loved the Air Force and was very proud to have retired after 20 years of service. Additionally, he worked for Citibank in New York and retired after 20 years.

He also loved traveling and photography. He traveled most of the United States and other parts of the world. He loved people and loved to talk about his experiences to everyone he met.

A celebration of his life will begin with a viewing on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 12 pm to 5 pm at Hargett Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Lakeview Memorial Park at 3 pm.
