IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fredrick Lee
Crawford
June 17, 1940 – September 4, 2018
FREDRICK LEE CRAWFORD, was born on June 17, 1940 to the late Marion Crawford.
Freddie, as everyone called him, was preceded in death by his beloved mother Marion and grandmother, Elsie Crawford.
Freddie graduated from Guilford County Schools in 1958. He was a well know local musician, playing the saxophone, which he taught himself how to play. Freddie was an avid golfer and spent most of his life pursuing the game as a passion. He built many friendships around golf and was a competitive player.
After high school, Freddie moved to NYC and pursued many career passions. He met and married Margaret Augusta Clarke and from that union Brian Lee Crawford was born. He was a Teamster, where he worked at the 1964 World Fair. He was a US Postal Vehicle Driver, and a Taxi Driver, until he finally settled in his career as a New York Transit Bus Driver: He remained there for 25 years and was proud of his career. He won numerous awards.
Besides Golf, Freddie loved to travel and would get in his car and just go. He was also a practitioner of herbal healing arts; he felt the works by Dick Gregory and Jethro Kloss were the keys to healthy living: He was a vegetarian for most of his life. He was deeply spiritual, practicing yoga, Buddhism and Christianity. He believed God's word was in all faiths.
Freddie leaves behind his son, Brian and Granddaughter Genesis as well as his Daughter-in-Law, Robin, who called him "Pops": he loved that. He also leaves close cousins: Jo Ann Williams, Jean Badgett, Brenda (Dalton) Raley, Wanda (Richard) Stewart, Pamela Williams and Gloria "Hookie" Griffin. He also leaves several second cousins, special lifetime friends and loves, who'll miss him dearly.
His sense humor and being "set in his ways" are what most of us family will remember most.
A homegoing celebration will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 at Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 East Market Street, Greensboro. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. Hargett Funeral Service is assisting the family.Visits: 0
